Keeping yourself active and moving is fundamental for our physical and emotional health. We all know running and jogging are a fantastic form of exercise, but for some it can be painful and hurtful for the knees. Today, we are going to understand the concept and the reasons why women should be jogging on a rebounder.
What is Jogging on a Rebounder in the First Place?
Jogging on a rebounder also known as “slogging”, has multiple health benefits such as detoxifies your body, promote weight loss, boost your energy and more…
Rebounding is a form of exercise where you use weight-bearing force to work against gravity with the principle of acceleration and deceleration. When you land on the mat every cell of the body is subjected to 4 times the force of gravity or g force and then at the top of your bounce, your body feels weightless.
The rate vary with the amount of effort you put into the bounce and the height you lift your feet from the mat to speed up or slow down the bounce. This constant repetition of your body going from 4G to 0G over and over make this exercise truly effective.
Jogging on a Rebounder unit is similar as jumping rope except you don’t get the jarring effect to the ankles, knees, and low back that you do from hitting the solid ground. Is considered a low impact cardiovascular exercise, suitable for everyone in the family from children to older adults. Joggers can double the calories burned when doing it on a rebounder.
Jumping rope for 10 minutes is equal as approximately 30 minutes of fast jogging.
NASA hailed it as ‘the most effective form of exercise, even better than running’ and it’s because Jogging on a rebounder lets you burn the same number of calories as running at a pace of 6 miles per hour, according to a small October 2016 study from the American Council on Exercise.
It also activates your lymphatic system to help your body detoxify naturally.
Jogging on a Rebounder is EFFETIVE, FUN and SAFER than running but don’t just take my word for it.
See what Simone De La Rue, celebrity trainer and CEO of Body By Simone has to say. “I can safely say in all the years I have been using the trampoline in my workouts, no one has ever fallen or jumped off,” she confirms.
Dr. Walker Called it “the most efficient form of exercise yet devised by man”. In fact, in his book Jumping for Health, he claims that just two minutes of rebounding gives you the physiological benefits equivalent to 22 minutes of walking, 10 minutes of swimming, and 6 minutes of running!
Tony Robins – American motivational speaker and “life coach” uses to rebound on a mini trampoline 10 minutes prior to taking the stage to gets his body “awake and alive”.
For whom is Jogging on a Rebounder
For anyone who want to reduce fat and cellulite on your legs, arms, thighs and hips; increase balance and coordination; add strength and firmness to muscles all over the body, boost energy, happiness, detox and more – all from the comfort of your own home.
My Personal Experience
In my experience rebounding can transform your jogging workout to a different level. There is no doubt that the more you use your rebounder, the more you’ll bring your body back to near youthfulness.
After I started jogging on a rebounder, I found aerobic rebounding workout is really invigorating and effective as a stress reliever and you can notice the effect almost immediately.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the 10 Reasons why women should start to jog on a rebounder and how this low-impact home workout can transform your lifestyle.
13 Reasons Why Women Should Start Jogging on a Rebounder in 2020
Is a full-body workout without stressing your joints
When performing traditional exercises, you have to apply weight or stress to a certain part of your body, or muscle group, over and over, until they adapt by becoming stronger. When you move your body up and down on a rebounder you start exercising every cell and muscles all together.
Jogging is a full body workout but when doing it on a pavement can sometimes stress your body to the point of deterioration and can be harmful for your knees. The advantage of to jog on a rebounder relies on the springs’ set or bungee cords of the unit. A good quality rebounder absorbs all the shock instead of you pounding on the pavement.
Some people have a natural strong body and can do high-impact workout even when just starting to jog. And that’s OK. If you can take some time to jog outside this is great and I encourage you to do it because it is beneficial. However, many women need to be gentler on their bodies, it is not easy for the knees to absorb all the impact from the pavement.
Often time due to weather conditions your workout also has to be interrupted. And if you have kids like me, you will experience that is way easier to jog at home than outside.
Boosts Your Longevity
Keep your body moving slows the aging process and reduces the risk of many causes of death such as cardiovascular mortality risk, several types of cancers, high cholesterol, diabetes, risk of stroke, obesity, and even dementia.
In fact, the European Society of Cardiology found that regular jogging increases the life expectancy of men by 6.2 years and women by 5.6 years.
Reduce your Stress Level
You may not agree at first because exercise is a form of physical stress and requires time. I encourage you to try for a week and experience the reduction of stress yourself. It’s surprisingly AMAZING!
If you are like me that sometimes needs convincing, I have done some research so you can feel even more confident to change your lifestyle.
According to a Harvard Research, when you work out, especially running or jogging, your body starts to reduce the hormones that would normally cause stress, like adrenaline and cortisol. Furthermore, your body starts a significant production of endorphins; hormones in the brain that are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators.
Endorphins are responsible for the feelings of relaxation and optimism which will contribute to your positive outlook in front of problems.
Believe me, jogging outside or on a rebounder is a powerful antidote to stress. When your body is focused on exercise your mind gets distracted from the daily worries and this alleviates your stress.
Boost Your Energy and Happiness
Jogging on a mini trampoline combines several mood-elevating elements like bringing jumping memories from the past when you were just a kid, it also helps you release stress and boost your serotonin, the “Happy Hormone”.
After five minutes of rebounding, you’ll get the awesome smile on your face. It’s like eating chocolate or ice cream – but without calories.
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, or natural brain chemical, that promotes good sleep and positive feelings.
To get the benefits the goal is to get your heart rate up for at least 15 minutes. Even the stretching exercises on a rebounder can help you relax your muscles and mind after a hard or stressful day.
Some people might say that they don’t have the need to exercise because they already feel good. Really? How good can you really feel? Do you know for sure? You don’t, unless you have tried exercising.
Detox and Clean your body
According to Dr. Morton Walker, the primary cause of fatigue, disease, and resultant premature aging is poor circulation to and from the tissues of the body. This is the job of the lymphatic system.
This is why for example, a perfectly healthy person confined to bed for an extended period due to a broken leg, can end up feeling terrible. His own toxins accumulated due to lack of movement then start poison their cells.
Part of the benefit of to jog on a rebound unit is the stimulation of the lymphatic system. Its job is transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, to removes the toxins from the body.
Adds Versatility to Your Workout Routine
In a Rebounder you can try so many workouts. It provides you with the freedom of turning, twisting, kicking and stretching the body without pain and performed at your own speed.
You can do jumping jacks and squats and it is way more fun. Sometimes I like to use my hand weights to increase the challenge and further improve strength in my arms. Many users have achieved 6 packs abs bouncing on a sitting position.
Is Excellent for Weight Loss
Performing just the health bounce which is moving your body up and down, a person burns around 325 calories per hour on average. I personally have seen people burning even more when adding jogging or other different movements.
This is what the ACE recommends for weight loss. You can burn more calories per minute and engage every cell and muscles of your entire body.
Improves Posture, Coordination and Balance
A mini trampoline study found that a trampoline workout increased the ability of seniors to recover their balance while falling forward. Because of the low impact, it is also good for injury recovery.
When doing repetitive bouncing movements until you reach exhaustion, you are working out your full body to the point of building strength. As a result, you are improving your flexibility, coordination and balance so you will be less prone to falls or injuries.
Reduce the Risk of Depression and Anxiety
Working out in general has been proven to reduce the risk of depression and anxiety. You may be suffering from restlessness, insomnia, headaches, neck or back pain but, why choose to jog on a rebounder for depression or anxiety?
After seems so many testimonies including my personal experience, I cannot stop sharing that women should start rebounding not just to look great but to feel awesome from inside out.
Think about it because your life matters. Jogging on a rebounder for at least 10 minutes a day can help you become your better version.
Strengthens Your Muscles and Bones
Rebounding is weight bearing so it helps to increase muscle flexibility and keeps your bones strong and healthy. According to the National Institute of Health, people who work out regularly achieve greater peak bone mass and strength than those who do not.
Exercising is important especially for older people who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. It does not only increase muscle and bone strength but also helps to prevent illnesses.
Is a weapon against Obesity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that 93.3 million people in the US are obese. This is a complex problem that increases the risk of many diseases and causes premature death.
A recent study also shows that even if you are prone to obesity, regular physical exercise like bouncing, jogging or running attenuates the genetic predisposition to obesity.
Jogging Lowers Blood Pressure
This exercise routine strengthens your heart and when doing it on a rebounder it doubles its effectiveness. When your heart is stronger it will pump more blood with less effort and this lowers your blood pressure.
According to the American Heart Association, 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity like jogging or bouncing on a trampoline helps lower your blood pressure and improve overall heart health.
Opportunity to do a fun exercise that you can keep doing for longer
With to jog on a rebounder, you don’t have to worry about your fitness condition because is designed for anyone in the family.
Personally, I have never been more engaged on any type of workout as I am with rebounding plus the time pass quickly by diverting your attention with bouncing while watching TV, listening your favorite music or even taking on the phone.
If you ask me, I don’t just do to jog on my rebounder but many other types of exercises.
How to Prepare Yourself for Bouncing and Jogging on a Mini Trampoline
Start Slow:
If you’ve never used a rebounder, build up to it doing the baby bounce also called the healthy bounce. This is hard because it’s so much fun that we tend to overdo it in the beginning.
Start the health bounce for one minute or two, then you can start increasing the speed and doing twisting, jogging, jumping, etc. Do it for 10 minutes a day until you feel comfortable to bounce for a longer time.
Choose a quality rebounder and listen to your body
Not all rebounders are the same. It is normal to feel a little of stress on legs, calves, arms as you put more effort and progress with your workout. But a bad quality rebounder may lead to strong pain and injuries because the mat can be too soft or too stiff for your joints.
Make it Fun
See if any of your family members or friends want to join you, setup a good environment, put music if you like to set the proper mood and energy.
Final Thoughts
Jogging on a rebounder is a great form of workout for the entire family because of its FUN factor. It really helps you engage with your workout. All the cell and muscles get the benefits without stressing your joints which is the case when to jog on pavement.
